There's No Place Like Home...well, if you are indeed at home? My home studio is equipped with a vocal booth, ProTools, mics, the works! But, when I'm on the road, my traveling studio looks pretty much like the photo on the left. This room at the Embassy Suites in Orlando was excellent acoustically and required nothing more from me to quiet it down. I traveled with my MacBook Pro, a USB Snowball (microphone) and my favorite recording software, Twisted Wave. Voice123.com provided plenty of auditions and the jobs I gained from them made my week!

Keep it simple and don't over think it. While you want your auditions to sound clean you don't need to supply your buyer with studio quality tracks. You are an actor, not an engineer. First, get the job, then you or your client can decide what studio to do your master in.

The Snowball by Blue is a favorite among voice actors because of it's ease of use, it's clarity and it's compatibility with most recording software. While it retails for $99, it can be found for much less on amazon.com. |

Prompt is simple teleprompter software for online download and purchase. Simple is the key to Prompt as it scrolls text, either mirrored or not and has simple word processing functions (like cut, copy, paste and whatever you decide to type from within the program). Text can be imported and exported to and from the application in the standard .txt format as well as saved with a native Prompt! .pmt format. Try out the lite version before you buy. Prompt saves its own file format so you can import text for the talent to read and then adjust the settings and then give the application and the file to your on-camera person to practice at their leisure in their own environment regardless of platform, either Macintosh or Windows. The scrolling settings you make stay with the file.
